An application has been made to amend the Sign By-law to permit the installation of a 100% electronic message centre (EMC) billboard with 2 faces:
• That is located on a property designated Tourist Commercial in the City’s Official Plan;
• With a minimum proposed sign face of 12.32 square metres in area;
The two sign faces will be located, placed, and displayed at an angle no greater than 180 degrees measured from the back of the sign faces of the billboard; and,
To permit additional signs on the parcels that conform to the City’s Sign By-law regulations.
Whereas, the Sign By-law does not permit billboards in the Tourist Commercial district; requires a minimum proposed sign face of 18 square metres in area; the two sign faces cannot be located, placed or displayed at an angle no greater than 120 degrees; and no other signs for which a permit is required are permitted on the premises where a billboard has been installed.
